Well, my bad.eye is not terribly bad. I suffered a complete retinal detachment when I took a face plant skiing a backcountry mountain that was beyond my abilities. The retina was reattached but with only partial success. My vision in that eye is always very distorted, and sometimes it hurts. But I'm very glad and lucky not to be blind in that eye.
My youngest daughter wore contacts during her first year in med school and she tore her retina taking out a contact lens. That was scary but she didn’t have permanent eyesight damage. She rode her bike to class, and before the retina tear, she got run into by some lady not paying attention nearly pushing her off a bridge. She missed the first 2 weeks. Years later she’s at Beth Israel in Boston being a MD.
I'm glad to have my eye, even with the distortion. I get better resolution by wearing an eye patch, but then I have no depth perception and zero peripheral vision to the left. Anyway, the difference between a bad eye and no eye is, as the expression goes, the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.
Ten years ago my liberal ex-wife, looking I suppose for another way to spend money, was lassoed by a fellow-traveler wine-girlfriend to fly over and take part in a (very) short section of this trek. At a rotund 5'2", 190#, she spent most of her time on the sag-wagon that followed the erstwhile pilgrimage about, greatly irritating the other wine moms. HT to you hardies who took it as more than just a box to check on some bucket list.
I totally envy your walking abilities! Keep trekking!
I didn’t know you have a “bad eye”.
I am vacationing in east Florida and the weather is splendid. I have personally experienced bad weather, but never willfully like you did in Spain.

Good on her!

Told with humor and insight and charm. Thanks for the smile. 😊👍
